The tricky part would be to make the "other" things NOT make a noise when you don't want them to. Just have to go digital... which isn't nearly as impressive. A quick Google suggests that hasn't been done in any useable way either. How hard would it be to add a bunch of strain gauges (better than "on/off") to a shoe? |

One more time... ...with sole. |

Very interesting idea. Could also attach various sound modules with buttons that play samples when you hit them. Could have any sound from a siren whistle to an elephants roar. Im seeing great potential for a comedy based tap dance routine. Sort of overcomplicates the idea though. |

Know who I need to ask about this? These guys. (link) |

And I was sort of kidding about this yesterday, but now as the coffee kicks in I'm thinking how proud I'd be to have invented the "Multi Tap Shoe" with different noise makers all around them if tap dancers actually liked them and they actually were used them to make people happy. |

I swear I'd put that at the top of my resume. |

Know what the first thing I'd put on, probably on the top of the toes? Maracas. Probably just have one of those things like you have for cleats for ice climbing and have various connection points. Then just customize your shoes with various percussion instruments wherever you want. |

Shoes meets drum set. I think this might be my favorite idea. |

See links for seperates that kind of match your idea. |

I think there are two main ways that people go with this. One is the classicl "one man band" with the back-mounted full drumkit which is connected down to knees and ankles. not so much what you are describing. The other is ankle or calf mounted jingles - i.e. you are getting dangerously close to morris dancing. |

Oh shoot, that's some baked stuff there. |

Guess the one foot wrap thing with a bunch of attachment points is still original enough though. (link) |

Thank you poc, good research there. |
