Yeah, I wish it made more sense too.

I think this would be a fairly good indicator of how much a movie sucks. Or not, maybe that's what some people want.

Buddy of mine suggested "Minutes of droning dialog" too.

Cool guys not looking at explosions. https://www.youtube...watch?v=Sqz5dbs5zmo
Be another scene count to include. [doctorremulac3, Jul 03 2023]

Just happens to be a shootout. [doctorremulac3, Jul 09 2023]

approved [+] - endless statistics could be generated for any film - percentage of times kettle boils somewhere in film 0.03% percentage of time fly lands momentarily on bald head of otherwise terrifying mobster.....

% of music playing while we watch pretty much nothing happen, because the director has a huge ego and thinks this emotional moment is enormously more impactful than it actually is and wants to give us time to cry. % of scenes which actually advance the plot. (subjective, but it's possible to get a ballpark) % of time listening to a monologue.

You know, this reminds me of a thing they did once where audiences had a dial they turned while watching the movie saying how much they liked or hated it. Wonder what ever happened to that.

And speaking of monologs, somebody just yesterday pointed out that they think modern movies are a bunch of mumbling where old movies featured stage actors that were used to basically yelling their lines in a theater. Wonder how much of a factor that is.

I just know I'm not enjoying modern movies as much, for whatever reason. I know I'm tired of the same things being repeated, spandex clad comic book superheroes punching people for instance.

So 3 shootouts scores 99% and that's irredeemably bad? How do you score our hero's redeeming features? Credit modifiers? Saved a child = 12%. Saved a dog = 16%. Got laid = 7%. Avoided shooting bystanders = 20%. Actually ran out of ammo = 10%. Did not throw a hand grenade that brought down a building = 8%. Dirt on face did not change within the scene = 6%. So our hero's score is actually 20% after getting his halo points. Doesn't sound too bad. Trouble is it could still be a really, really bad movie. Or a really good one. Not a good yardstick. But fun.

I think the only real determinant for me would be the car chase and shootout minutes.

That being said, the greatest scene and line in movie history happens to be a shootout so this is just a general "be aware" guideline I guess. (link)

I think I like this. A lot. My husband and I would never agree on a movie, but that's ok. I'm no longer a fan of theaters. I like to roam around and eat popcorn and drink tequila. That is all looked down upon at the theater.

Theaters in my area are serving booze now, but no amount of alchohol can make the stuff coming out of Hollywood now watchable.
doctorremulac3, Jul 10 2023

And you know I don't really drink Tequila, or Vodka, or even a beer. But if I did... We got the boozy theaters too. Sitting through Brady for 80 was torture. My 80-year-old friend liked it. I had to wash my hands when we got back. That helped some. Rotten movie and a waste of her money.

We just saw that movie "The Sound Of Freedom". I'm glad I saw it but it was very hard to watch, if you're looking for a good time this definately isn't it, the subject matter is incredibly horrible. That being said, it is something that needs to be dealt with.

       Be forwarned.

       Asteroid City was most watchable.

Cool colors, I'll check it out.
