To prevent identification, a face is often reduced to a mosaic. This is done in a section of the original video.
It is possible to see the face a little better, by squinting the eyes, but this is not what this idea is about.
When the person is talking, they tend to move about a little, and
the mosiac changes colour slightly. Using the positional data, and the change in colour of the mosaic, it should be possible to reconstruct an improved resolution of the face. Similar, I suppose, to progressive scan technology.
So my advice to those anonymous informants: keep still on camera. And censorship of smutty films might be a thing of the past (unless they use "blur"). Not that I have watched them or anything.....

Six color printing and scanning could bring magazine quality art to video. |

[Toadinnov], yes, I gave it a quick once over - a neat utility! Maybe useful one day.
As you probably already know: it needs the original data (in a mixed up form) to reconstruct. Mosaic masking, on the other hand, reduces the available data, because each block is the same colour throughout. |

[FarmerJohn], amazing coincidence. I think [Freefall] cames the closest. Note that I mention that "blur" couldn't be undone in this way.
Does that mean I am baked? |
