With all the emphasis on extreme sports and hobbies these days, why not revive the old model train hobby, but with a twist? Literally.
Scaled down just as model trains are, and can even be made to function! Comes with different track "parts" like corkscrews, loops, hills, etc. Hanging coasters,
upright cars, and regular can all be purchased.
The cars can be purchased as is, or painted for the true enthusiast. Classics like The Hulk, The Eagle, The Ninja, and The Batman can all be collected in addition to making your own!
Of course part of the fun is in building the scenery as well, and various amusement park shops and accoutrements can all be purchased.

Lovely idea - especially as you'd be able to bring your train set and roller-coaster into closer proximity than is allowed in real life because of safety legislation - e.g. the roller-coaster could corkscrew round the train track, or hang upside down over the rain track. |

Ditto, nice idea baked or not. |

[21 Quest], what exactly are you talking about? Yes, a Google search brought more "erectors" than I could shake my... stick at, but what does that have to do with model rollercoasters? |
|
|
Strange: yesterday, the local rag had a cartoon of a guy with his shrink. He was saying "No one takes me seriously". Meanwhile the shrink was busy playing with his model rollercoaster set. |

I saw the link, and I read about the existing models. I just don't get the "erector seats" you mentioned. I did a Google search, and the results were bizarre, to say the least. |

[admin: I don't think this isn't quite widely practiced to warrant a mfd widely known. I'd never heard of it, before searching for it - and while building a roller coaster out of erector sets is both cool and widely done, a special set of prefab materials like in the link is different. So, I'm happy with leaving this idea up as a point of reference.] |
