Mobile Phone Clicker

it's off da hook!

During the days of large dial telephones, it was dramatic to click the receiver a few times, yelling “Hello! Hello! We’ve been cut off!”
But with a cell phone, if you think the connection is gone, you wander in various directions saying, “Hello”, followed by several lines of “Have you the ability to now perceive me audibly?”
I’d prefer the frantic clatter of the past:

Mobile phones with a motion switch, and a satisfying click like a can of spray paint.

”Hello?” *clickity-clickity-clack* “Are you there!” (frozen look of impending doom as I slowly close the phone).

Maybe a thumb operated button, much likel the type you get on a CB or walkie-talkie...
Breaker. Breaker. Are you there!?

Growing up in the late 70's, I never understood why people on TV kept hitting the switchhook on the phone in the event of a sudden disconnection.

I always figured these were hand-crank phones in disguise, and the clicker was what powered them.
