An international treaty needs to be passed that would make it mandatory for all future land mines laid to contain a time released herbicide, (that releases for years) or detectible chemical marker (for desert areas), that would make future dection possible after the strategic time period for the laying
of the mine had passed. If armies have to have them at least help us find them after they are no longer needed!

Why not do the opposite, put seeds in them them that sprout a distinctive plant? Might last longer than the herbicide, and better for the environment. |
