I like film better than digital. My only gripe with 35 mm is that you can't change film speeds, or whether it is black and white, without wasting the rest of the pictures by winding the film back early.
Cameras with this system would punch a small hole in the film whenever you take an exposure. Then,
you can push a button, and it will wind the film most of the way back into the roll, but it will leave the leader sticking out. This will make it possible to reload it later. You can load another roll, and when you put the old one back in, the camera winds the film until it finds where it stopped punching holes in the film. This way, you don't have to wait until you have taken about 24 exposures before switching film speeds and types. You can just start where you left off.

Not the same as APS, I want this for 35 mm film. |

Any decent film camera will allow you to
rewind the film and leave the leader
sticking out of the cassette. So, to
change rolls halfway through a film just
rewind, leaving the leader out and when
you want to put that film in again, take
the right number of photos at 1/2000
f16 or something in a dark room with
the lens cap on to wind the film forward
back to the point where you were. |

pretty much any slr camera will do this... but more should. |

[hippo] My SLR will wind the film back, and taking dark exposures would work, but I want this to be automatic and fast. I take both black-and-white and color photographs, but I don't want to have to use all 24 exposures or rewind it early and waste the rest of the exposures before I can switch between them. Same goes for different film speeds. |

What we need is a camera that has capacity for two types of film, and a system to switch either lens or film back and forth. |

I use multiple bodies for various film types. |
