If your kids have a favourite cuddly toy, chances are it will be distinctively misshapen / missing limbs, eyes etc. If they lose it, you won't fool them by simply buying a replacement. They will be scarred for life and might turn into serial killers or Republicans.
So, take it along to a vet and
ask them to implant a 'tagging' chip, so that if it's lost the owner can be traced and reunited with it.
