This is what happens when one confuses "random" with "profound."

idea: add, search, annotate, link, view, overview, recent, by name, random

Searching old news is relatively easy, but search engines take a while to add pages and update links.

Is there one where you could search about the latest rumours on a court trial, the latest polls for the presidential elections, or the latest developments of a hijacked airplane or whatever?

CNN.com, NYtimes.com, etc. have their own searches, but since you can only search one publication at a time, there are two problems: (1) There is a problem if you are searching for a very specific, non-bigtime issue, which only tends to get coverage in small-readership, specialized publications. (2) Within your one-source search, your results will be biased toward that particular source's stance.

I just want to be able to see different sources' accounts of very recent events side-by-side.

http://www.wwideweb.com/engine.htm has multiple search fields for this purpose.
