So, the wife and I made pasta e fagioli the other day, and are still working on the leftovers - hooray for modern refrigerator techniques!

Anyway, our pasta e fagioli had a cheese base, instead of the traditional chicken stock or tomato paste/pasta sauce bases. Really, we made mac and cheese with beans.

And this got me thinking - why not a store-bought mac and cheese with beans recipe? I recognize it would be harder to store, because dried bean recipese tend to call for several hours of soaking to restore the little legumes to their former glory. But if, say, the beans were included in the box in a can, or a sealed pouch...

I can see it now: "Kraft Mac n' Fagioli: The Beaniest!"

No, all of the posts in it would make me feel vaguely inferior and cost twice as much.

       Yes, It seems so.

       (sp. "iFagioli")

[hippo]: Seen it both ways. I think it has something to do with the position of the i/e relevant to the word prior. I believe you use "e" after words ending in vowels.

(pssst, [shapu], he's making an Apple joke... An iJoke if you will.)

(pssst, [theleopard]: I'm obviously an idiot. Don't tell anyone - let's make it our little secret)

(pssst - sorry, it wasn't a very good joke)

I have no idea WTF this idea is about.
Big Mac?
iMac?
MAC10?
Rain mac?

it's a packaging idea for beans, macaroni and cheese.

I am fascinated by all the folks from the UK...you don't have Macaroni and Cheese boxes out there?

       How do you LIVE?

//you don't have Macaroni and Cheese boxes //
I'll ask my cricket-playing friends and get back to you on that one.
coprocephalous, Sep 30 2009

Do you mean boxes full of macaroni and cheese (ugh, doesnt the cardboard get soggy?), or boxes made from macaroni and cheese (what do you put in them?) Or indeed, cricket boxes (both questions partially relevant)
pocmloc, Sep 30 2009

... uncooked macaroni (i.e., "mac"), powdered cheese mix (i.e., "and cheese"). in a box. boil noodles, drain, add milk, butter, cheese mix, stir. = mac & cheese.

       now, with beans.

I'd say this is a recipe, but this could be played off as a packaging idea.
CaptainClapper, Sep 30 2009

well I'd say it was a recipe too, but mac'n'cheese is our national dish so...
