Luggage X-Ray Postcards
A postcard picture of what your luggage looks like as it's passed through the X-Ray machine. | |
As you go through the metal detector before boarding a plane, your luggage gets X-rayed for dangerous objects. I always find myself craning my neck to see what my bag looks like when X-rayed.
On the computer screen, a boring handbag suddenly becomes beautiful: a skeletal form containing bright green
and orange outlines of objects. I think it would be neat to offer passengers a chance to buy a print-out postcard of their luggage as it's passed through the machine, the way they photograph you screaming on a roller coaster and sell it to you when the ride is over.
Aside from the fact that the picture looks interesting, I think it would be a good way to commemorate your trip, remember what you brought on it, etc.

Although this appears to be an excellent idea, it does have it drawbacks, security wise. For instance, I once stupidly tried to look at the screen when my own baggage was being scanned, and it resulted in my singled out for special attention.
They dont want people to know the capabilities of these x-ray machines, for obvious reasons.
Sister, UB says welcome back? Have you been here before? |
A receipt of X-ray with attached picture should be made mandatory so there is proof that you didn't carry that gun in the handbag when you entered the secure area. (+) |
A good point about the capabilities of x-ray machines leaking out, pluterday. Actually I've never been here before - I found this website just today, so I'm a half-baked virgin. :) |
UB, thanks for the warm welcome. |

The real question is do you want the person whom you send the postcard to seeing the outline of everything in your suitcase. And I mean *everything*... |
This would be good before and after an operation, to see if the right parts were removed/added/replaced and nothing extra was left in. |
thats right, you could see if they dropped a stitch in your newly knitted knees. |

Great idea. The ethereal beauty of x-rayed luggage has always appealed to me. The chance to immortalise it is more than I could ever have hoped for from this world. |

I would have loved a postcard of my mothers luggage the last time she visited me. It contained various bottles of sauce, a big cake wrapped in foil and an almost 2 foot long double baster. |
Yes, FJ, I would like to see some things myself. Like when my SO had a CAT scan of his head done the other day.
No, nothing serious, please dont worry.
He said it showed everything, even his brain. <oh, really?> I begged him to show it to me. <pleeeeeease> But he didnt. He wouldnt.
I know hes smart, I know he has lots of brains, but, well...
So now, Im starting to think hes hiding something. |
you *sure* it was his head he had scanned? |

This could spark a whole new art form. Mundane, every day items cunningly arranged to look like, say, a bunny rabbit, a toilet brush, the eiffel tower, Munch's "The Scream" and so on and so forth. All zapped and recorded in all their subtle, technicolour magic. |

Fun idea. Welcome to the bakery! (WTAGIPBAN) |

You sure know how to travel!

What a fine idea! They could also have a postboard of all time coolest bag xrays, for people to persuse as they waited in line. |
Don't really see the attraction to this, but whatever. |
But in case my bag is too boring, how about a postcard stand at the end of the security check where you can purchase X-Ray's of interesting bags of yore? |
I have flowers in my bag and here is what they looked like to the security...(see link) |
How about having the passenger's copy of the xray not include the full level of contrast available to the operator? That would avoid any security issues while still providing the requisite "coolness". |

I had this idea some time ago.... Saves me writing it up. Thank you [sisterlong-gone] - have this croissant. |
