Mark locations with a built-in GPS in a PDA. Then, when nearing a location with an attached event, have the PDA vibrate or ding, and display what you have to do there, or change a special to-do list called "To do here", to the relevant one.
Example: You're feeding your fish, it detects that you
are by the tank, and reminds you that it's time to clean the tank again.
You walk into your garage - if you look at the "To do here" list, you see things like "Oil change" or "Rotate tires" that are attached to the location. It doesn't alert you because none of these things are urgent yet, and constant alerts would get annoying fast.
You get to the office - and now this list contains things you have to do at the office.
Obviously you can access these lists without being at the location, through a separate menu.
Easily bakeable using current technology - only thing is that the constant GPS usage would suck current batteries dry very fast.

Mid-air Messaging Attaches Wireless Data to Physical Locations

Godsend!!! I have a silly memory problem; as soon as I walk into another room, I forget what I was wanting to do in the last one, and each room I walk into has a dozen or so tasks which never get done. |
That's awesome! Driving home: Pick up this this and this...
turn left here to get there.... + |

HP has been demoing something like this in their Cooltown centers. I think they call it leaving messages in the air. |
Arghhh! I deleted my anno!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |
Here it is again: very very good but not if you live in the Australian Outback. |
Yeah, I read this as being the same as the Geocorder. Am I wrong? |
Apparently the same enough for [DrCurry] to link to it, too. |
This should be an anno on geocorder. |
Yes, I figured this would be different from the HP stuff and geocorder as it has no remote messages/web access/charges for bandwidth/cell contracts etc... imagine that technology used in real life, there would be nothing but spam, all over the roads and streets. And you would be charged to read it. |

Mine is just a simple, useful, locally stored to-do list. |

BTW - long time lurker, first time posting. This site is great! |

GPS does not work indoors unless you are near windows with a view of the sky.
But it does work well in OZ Outback as it is likely you have reception of several satellites. |
You could write this for the iPhone with the SDK no problem. THere are already apps where you can dl that take a picture and store the location (not just position) info, plus the wifi and cell tower triangulating helps place your location indoors. |

Location based Lotus notes is also coming to this unit in the near future, which is what I thought your idea was about. |

Welcome to the bakery. Ignore the stupid elitist jerks that are here (there are a plenty) and listen to the genuine comments about your idea. :) |
