To popularize such acronyms within HB bakers, list most common of these in help section in HB. It will ease communication.

I will notify the grand-poobahship approval committee (the GPAC) and have them draw up the official list of centrally condoned acronyms and technical style-guide (OLCCAATSG), it should have been sent to you with the welcome pack you got when you joined and your subscription payments were processed. This pack, made available to high-prioirty users, otherwise known as the High-Order Access X Materials contains all known and fully endorsed acronymic guidelines - frankly, I'm surprised you missed this. |

IMHO, the point of using commonly known acronymns is that they are commonly known. As for HB specific acronymns there are already some in the help file FYI. |

Acronyms are just handy abbreviations commonly used in order to save time and effort. Approval or otherwise is pointless. You can't stop the signal.
TTFN. |

VJW? - anyway, this is a terrible idea. The two acronyms (strictly speaking, these are 'initialisms') you cite in the summary are widely used elsewhere, so it would be odd for the Halfbakery to have a special look-up page for these when there are thousands of explanations of these on the internet already. Then, you use the word "approved", suggesting that this system is going to be policed somehow. Finally, acronyms which aren't immediately understandable or which aren't explained when first used in a piece of text are just a symptom of self-importance and cliqueyness. |
