Levitating Levi Leaphigher

Go whiffling through the uffish streets.

Unselfishly, I had decided to bestow the honour of the first flight upon another, so I set the last of almost a hundred tiny, barbless hooks into the nether regions of Manuel, my amanuensis, then tightened the last of the lines.

Tears of pain and silent rage streamed down his reddened cheeks, and across those of his face, as well.

With a raised forefinger I gave the signal to my legion of serfs and minions, who hauled upon the many fine, non- reflective fishing lines attached to the hooks and threaded through glass pulleys suspended above the street.

With a high pitched scream the amanuensis rose into the air and was propelled as if by magic across the busy street, at an elevation of some metres, clearing the traffic thereupon.

A relatively gentle landing ensued, though it should be noted it was still a landing in a collection of parked and chained bicycles... so not ideal for Manuel.

The team awaiting his arrival disengaged him from the pile of cycling machines, removed the hooks and swabbed him liberally with medicinal alcohol, to prevent infection. His screaming subsided in time.

We went home happy that afternoon, secure in the knowledge we had launched a naked, grown man across a busy street, without any visible means of support.

I don't really see that guy being flung across a street by that device, [2fries].

Pun? WTF? I used levi Leipheimer as the basis for the name. That's about it.
UnaBubba, Jul 03 2012

Before CGI, fishing line used to be used for invisibly lifting stuff in special effects in films but I wonder how invisible a large number of fishing lines would be together - also, any reason why Levi has to be naked?

//without any visible means of support.

//why Levi has to be naked?

I suspect the two might be connected in some way.

He'll be dangling above the street, [hippo].

Actually, there are few Halfbakery ideas which are not enhanced in some way or made more amusing by the addition of gratuitous nudity.
hippo, Jul 03 2012

Not unlike fortune cookie quotes all being enhanced or made more amusing by the addition of the words, "in bed".
UnaBubba, Jul 03 2012

Ok, this guy. [link] 2 This guy is at least crossing the raod.

So, the idea here is to strip a Spanish guy naked, pierce him with multiple fishing hooks, and use these to lift him, screaming, onto a pile of bicycles.

[Ubie], I am sort of failing to pick up on the lighter side of this idea. Or, for that matter, the inventive side.

You left out the busy street, but otherwise I think that's it.

Sheesh. And to think I held back on posting my "101 uses for splinters of wood" concept.
MaxwellBuchanan, Jul 03 2012

       Is your name Manuel?

I think this would be a good story to use for one of those (joke) stories where a word is left out of a sentence_____________ and someone picks a random word to insert.
