I used to know morse code in my childhood. The other day I got stuck in a waiting room and to fight the boredom tried to see if I still remembered any. I didn't remember enough to really communicate anything useful, so I came up with this simple way to learn morse code in minutes if you need to for some reason.

Write each letter down using the parts of the morse code for that letter. For instance: A would be

. _

B would be

I:.

Can't really type it, the A was supposed to be a dash with a dot on top, forming an A shape. The B was a vertical line with 3 dots to it's right, looks sort of like a B. It needs to be written but you get the idea.

It works, Write them all down and have somebody test you. You'll get all of them down in about 10 minutes.

You're welcome.

If A is a dash with a dot on top, how do you know whether it's .- or -. ?

Oh, THAT'S Morse code? I thought Morse code was that frilly writing that looks like a girl wrote it, maybe it's called cursive writing. I get them confused.

But hey, might work for Morse code too.

It goes top to bottom, if there are two rows you read it like regular columns upper left down to top of next column and down. So "A", a one column letter is . for the top, then the dash below it. B has two columns, so you read the first column, the dash, then go to the next column, 3 dots. Obviously you twist the dashes to horizontal or vertical as necessary. Some are easier than others. H is a good one, 4 dots, the 4 corners of an H, followed by two dots, which in a column form an I.

Use a little creativity and it really works. I think it helps to draw your own letters with the code parts to make it sink in.
