This would work fine, except in terms of success.

Lawn Watering Bot

A more sophisticated lawn watering solution

Take a slow-crawling wheeled lawn bot. Nothing fancy, probably two independently driven front wheels and a third trailing caster type thing. Solar powered, probably, and connected to a hose. The hose should attach to a sort of elevated swivel tail type thing to minimize the tangling issues.

Now, it can crawl around your lawn in an orderly fashion dispensing water to the grass. The deluxe model has a soil moisture probe. Now it can provide more appropriate levels of water, and not turn that shady bit by the tree into a swamp.

We once had something like this. The cool thing is that the crawling was powered by the hose, which turned something that in turn turned the big spiked wheels.

I wonder if there's a variant available that monitors soil moisture conditions, time of day, and lighting, and will water and move my bonsai trees in and out of the shade.
