Chaotic rippled cobalt light
Reflecting off the paraffin
Along my walks at dusk and
night
From car to house and there
again
In winter you will melt a column
Flakes reflect a bluish glow
Aquatic dancing waxen golum
Waxing light in waning snow
Like
sentries placed along my
path
Standing stately in a row
Their brains in alcoholic bath
Boil gently at my toe
Make your own lava lamp

T'would be pretty
T'would be fun
Until the drive-by
With a B-B gun. |

Soft and crusty pastry delight,
evenings darkness renders forlorn.
Now glowing with awe in the light,
of lava lamps on the lawn.

My Lava Lawn Lamps were "all that"
Guiding all from gate to mat
Performing free from caveat
'Till rent asunder by my cat! |
|

Yes Bliss, ethylene glycol, mineral
oil, paraffin and a few other
things. |
|
|
With all this talk of alcohol
I cannot help but think
Id pop the cap from such a lamp
And have myself a drink. |

On one drunken night I recall, Beautiful genlty lit asthetics, Upon my Lava Lawn Lamp I did fall, Speed dial on my phone to give paramedics a call. |

Um, lemme point out that this is
the poisonous alcoholic cocktail
not
to mention what the mineral oil
will do to your bowels. :) |

This is just getting... :) |

Thank you, [Worldgineer]! |

Sorry, LBAF wasn't sure what you
meant by that. My profile has that
info and more. |

Creaking limbs of trees imbued
In background darkness show delight
Their snowy branches stretch and move
And bask in your aquatic light
Such mesmerizing theatre
Performing on your winter lawn
Moves light about in quite motion

...Then falls to sleep at break of dawn |

Thanks, [sartep] ... got it all ironed out now ... |

One wonders, though, would lava work
When mantled under frozen snow?
Would paraffin form frozen chunks
That float on top instead of flow? |
|
|
Would bitter cold on wintry nights
Impede the mixture there within?
Does anybody out there know
The freezing point of paraffin? |
|
|
Or does the need arise to use
A bulb that burns with extra heat?
A thousand watts, or more, perhaps
Would melt the snow around our feet. |
|
|
And clear a path to walk upon
Dry-footed from the street to home
While psychedelic globs of light
Illuminate the garden gnome. |

Your problem, [Burns], is quickly solved,
By prominent indication;
No hippie would dare get involved:
"Hazard: Radiation."
|
|
|
(I realise now, upon reflection,
This may invite agglomeration.) |

Here in Tucson, falling snow
Has rarely ever trouble been
The blist'ring heat of summer, though,
Might melt your glowing paraffin. |
|
|
But since these comments tend to sing
A stately winter aria,
I am reminded of one thing:
The Christmas luminaria.
|
|
|
In what Tucson calls "winter's wrath,"
Dec'rative types might find this swag
A better way to light a path
Than candles in a paper bag. |
