Lapel Pin
Recognize other halfbakers in public | |
It's a handmade cloisonné lapel pin, in the shape of a full croissant in two or three shades of brown/orange (similar to the favicon), with
three individually optional lines of black text below: "halfbakery", a (short) tagline of your choice, and your [username].
Wear it in places where you're likely
to see other halfbakers, for example: Halfbakery meetups, hackerspaces/makerspaces, Maker
Faire, inventors' conferences (if those exist), the patent office, maybe hacking conferences, England, Canada.
I've been wanting to learn cloisonné for a couple of years, but unfortunately I don't have the time or money at the moment.

It's a bit more complicated than that; cloisonné requires the attachment of fine strips of metal, or sometimes a type of bas-relief engraving, of the image on the substrate, the cells so created being then filled with enamel before firing. |

Why is this better than going about dressed as a giant
croissant? |

At that suggestion, you quickly turn on your heel and reveal your alternative smelly fish view. |

That is a singularly poor choice of phraseology. |

Thankfully, we are not even a little bit french, so that option (which is, by the way, particularly suspect and disgusting) is unavailable to us, or indeed any members of your species familiar with the concept of "washing", often involving a type of surfactant known as "soap". |

We will not expect an immediate riposte as we accept that you will need to consult Wikipedia to familiarize yourself with these strange concepts. |
