Land luge commuter lanes

For the daring who live uphill from the industrial park

I've had a lot of fun in my brief land luge life - I've gone 50 mph on a moderate grade. It seems a lot faster than that when your head is only a foot from the pavement.

Of course, I had two cars spotting for me - one in front, one in back, in an effort to avoid being squished by careless drivers.

I'm planning to move closer to my work this spring, to try and minimize the dreaded California commute.

If I could find a home uphill from work, could I get a small lane dedicated to this mode of travel, similar to the carpool and bicycle lanes we have here?

A small lane leading directly to the local casualty ward would seem appropriate.

Why does that phrase seem so telling?

I always prefered longboarding. Sometimes I would take an extra hour off of work to go bomb a few hills, but remember the walk up after you're finnished.

[Letsbuildafort]: Why should the Finnish have all the fun? We have hills right here!

[normzone]: I can imagine how much you'll love bombing into the office in the cool of the morning... And how much you'll dread trudging way the hell back up the hill to your Mondo Condo in Casa de Loma Linda Prima Vera Estates at 6PM some July evening when it's still 93 degrees in the California sun.

For the return trip (or any up-hilly-ness), just add rockets! See link...
