Kyoto revenge
Eliminates the need to make crappy cars, just calculate each unit made as presumed replaced and average v8 fuel consumption saved | |
Electric engine and battery pack complete package with matching bolt pattern to replace a chevy smallblock. literally slice the loom of hoses and wires with a machete, undo the bolts for the transmission and reconnect your brand new electric. assuming most newer chevys are fuel injected the potmeter
for the throttle would really do the trick as far as controlling power output in a fot on pedal type of configuration. Carburator wire connector would maybe required for us hit. Engine mount bolt points are assumebly universal for a range of v8's?

Nevermind the transmission ratios, fact that HEV's and electric motors have completely different torque characteristics, etc... |

the first comma, and then it stopped being English. |

We already register our protest against the
excessive, unreasonable and politically
motivated increases in the cost of automotive
and aviation fuel by collecting every scrap of
combustible material we can find and
burning it on an inefficient open hearth. |

Have you noticed that your planet is getting
warmer, by the way
? |
|

Not in East Anglia we haven't, no. Global warming
my arse. |

I'm sure that was a Viz comic strip. |

But anyway, reading the post, it seems to be "let's replace all car engines with electric motors" which seems an admirable sentiment. That the title is contradictory to the post...that is less understandable. |

No, they are assumably not. What is the displacement of
the V8? What are its performance characteristics and
output ratings? How are its intake and exhaust systems
arranged? Is it boosted or naturally aspirated? Where will
the engine be placed (front, mid, rear)? To what type of
transmission will it be mated? What kind of car or truck will
it power? All of these factors and countless others go into
the placement of mount points. |

Most battery packs for electric vehicles are much larger and heavier than a V8 engine, if any useable range is desired. Because of this weight, they usually get placed in a flat slab under the floorboards. Putting all that weight high up over the front wheels won't do the the car any favours for handling. |

"Handling" is one of those fancy European concepts,
like man-bags and the ability to speak French. There's
just no demand for that kind of thing. |
