Keyboard coffee protector

My friend just brought coffee to the table next to our laptops

Its the second time he poured it and had to replace the keyboard, and fix the laptop.

So, all that's needed is a clear "dome" shield that covers the keyboard and you put your hands under it to type. When the coffee spills it only gets on your pants (or skirt).

I'd often wondered about ducting the cpu fan exhaust upwards to the keypad, thus maintaining a positive pressure, to keep out moisture and dust.

You know you can get silicone rubber overlays for keyboards?

You can also make espresso Jello shots, which would largely solve the problem.

It would be useful if someone would actually precisely define what the problem is - the keyboard (not coffee-proof) or the coffee (not spill-proof/too conductive).

If this were done, it would be easier to work out which part of the problem to address first.

Both. This way you protect the coffee from getting lost in the keyboard, and you can always retrieve it from your clothes through careful cyclonic separation and evaporation processes. Anyway, most of it flows from the protector dome to the emergency cup (supplied) and is stored there for reuse.
