Sometimes you just want to be alone.

On a planet populated with 6.7 billion people, this can sometimes be difficult. Until now, those seeking social withdrawal were required to drive, fly or ambulate to some unpopulated location just to enjoy a peaceful moment un-fettered by fellow human beings.

Now, however, total isolation can be found mere blocks away in an Isolation Booth.

Whatever your reasons, our sound proof, 100% deluminated booth will provide you *and only you* with complete and utter isolation from the rest of the world for only 1 U.S.D. a minute.

Get away from it all in your nearest Isolation Booth.

       How esoteric, [Jutta].

Just hide in a closet, wrapped in a blanket, wearing earplugs or noise-canceling headphones.

Sleep, social isolation, and sensory deprivation are different things. Real sound proofing is much harder than what's needed to let most people fall asleep; and you'll want to be awake to truly enjoy your socially isolated "alone time".

Incidentally, as far as I can tell, this "powrnap" thing must have blown over - all I can find are the promo materials, but no test and no photograph from the installation. I've never actually seen this at SFO. (I know that catnaps have been an existing fad, I'm just talking about this particular version of it.)

Japanese Manga/Internet cafes fill the need for privacy and social isolation, but don't do much for sound isolation - you just get your own cubicle.

In Norfolk we call it 'Thetford town centre'.

Unless one counts the virtually deceased occupants of charity shops, one can walk through unimpeded by social interaction of any kind.

Surely one just announces that one is not at home and sends the staff away?

In Cambridgeshire we call it 'Thetford village centre'.
