Irrelevantly Reference Someone (The IRS Game)

Are you lazy? Well, yeah...but I mean lazy like me? Then this is the game for you! The object is to defer doing some task that you are trying to avoid for as long as possible. The method is to inappropriately reference some famous person. Before I go on, an example is necessary:

Mother: Billy, did you take out the garbage like I asked you to?

Billy: Who do I look like? The artist formerly known as prince?

This is how the game is played. Generally, the more obscure the refernce, the longer the (unwitting) opponent will take to recover.

Mother: No, wait...what? What are you talking about? I asked you to take out the garbage, I think...

How you use this moment will decide the outcome of the game. While the opponent is internally distracted, you can make your escape by:

A) Jumping out an open window. Only recommended for low altitudes or really really bad tasks, like having to help bathe grampa. However, no points are awarded because of the effort involved.

B) Pretending like nothing is unusual. If the task is recinded, add one point. If, however, your opponent regains their senses, move on to round two.

Mother: Look, I've asked you to do this twice already. Just take out the garbage!

At this point, you can either submit, and lose the game, or come up with an even more irrelevant reference that will send your opponent reeling.

Billy: Herman Munster didn't have to take out the garbage.

Mother: Who? Huh? Y'know what? Fine. I'll take it out myself.

Score!!! The player gets two points, since he sucessfully completed two rounds. More importantly, though, he gets the satisfaction of avoiding doing something he didn't want to do (namely, taking out the garbage), leaving him time to do the things in life he wants to do (which is watch spongebob squarepants).

I thought my son invented this.

What if you make a correct reference and your oponent still doesn't know what you're talking about? (That would happen a lot with my boyfriend, he seems to live in another planet). Does this mean he/she is playing the reverse of this game/playing fool? Is your oponent doing it to get you all confused? Does this give him/her points?

excellent plan, it may also work if you are doing an essay and you need to pad it out....just quote a random person, the examiner will be so confused you couldnt possibly fail!
