Invasive species are a growing environmental threat worldwide. Recent examples (where I live) include the Snakehead Fish, and the Flying Fish. My government is trying to poison the Snakehead out of existence with limited success while killing everything else in the process. The Flying fish is now
abundant in waterways too large to poison. My solution culinary. These fish have not been eaten here historically, but thats only because they havent been here until recently. They are delicacies elsewhere. Snakehead is a delicacy in China and Steamed Flying Fish with Coo-Coo (a food) is the national dish of Barbados.
Im sending out a team of biologists and fishermen to cull these fish populations. The catches will be distributed fresh to my restaurants where they will be prepared in accordance with the whimsical desires and discerning palettes of any nationality.
In time, the successful culling will be recognized, in demand, and out of necessity - government funded. Next
There are many other items that belong on my menu. The invasive plant salad, and breads coming right up Sir / Maam
<links to recipes for the fish mentioned, and a link to the Global Invasive Species Database>
Im wide open to suggestions for restaurant name and menu item names. As good as it may taste, nobody is going to say Honey, lets go out for some Snakehead at the Invasive tonight.

Mussels.....My mistake. I already eat those - I just steam them. Id be more than happy to send out a team to collect (control) them. Dip them in melted butter they are very very tasty. |
I guess you could say Im a cook, although thats not my profession. I just enjoy it. |

Seagull egg omelette, anyone? |

This could work. In my neck of the woods, they say "an animal is put on the endangered list the moment the Chinese consider it a delicacy" (translated from the original Chinese) |
I propose Crown-of-Thorns Starfish soup. They have taken over many tropical reefs (esp. in Australia) and scour all the coral polyps before they move on. |
I like the idea but I'm not going to start eating Cane Toads anytime soon. |
Humans seem pretty invasive to me - and that's not just George W and his cronies. |
The subject is to do with species that take over and dominate areas of the planet that they originally had nothing to do with. Ecologically that is exactly what humans do, and we do it very well. I'm not advocating cannabalism, merely encouraging others to think a little deeper. In the same way, I don't think [UB] is really encouraging people to cook rats or toads - but you never know. |

[Admin] References to sleepygrass removed, with apologies. I was aware that I had upset her by suggesting a magnetron instead of a gun-turret and had wrongly assumed she was a moderator after she explained the site's strict cruelty-free policy to me. |

Bring on the chocolate coated killer bumble bees. |
Might as well start eating them, and maybe build up a tolerance, before they make it all the way north to Canada and find their way into my igloo. |
[waugs], I hope that site is not for real, though it appears to be. Not sure I really want to know. Those are non-invasive species (some pets, and some endangered). |

Aaargh! Komodo Dragon ever see The Freshman - Matthew Broderic? |

Thanks [Shz], but I'm still not convinced. |

I love flying fish roe on sushi. YUM !!! |

Fantastically conceived, and would raise awareness of an important issue. A croissant is not enough. |

Dandelions are a weed in the U.S. They are also safe to eat, and taste pretty good if you ask me. |
