The true test of any karaoke performer comes with the long instrumental section of any song that they hadn't bargained for when they picked it in the first place. Do they stand their, looking a little uncomfortable? Do they try and talk to the audience? Do they add a few "Oh yeah"'s? Do they attempt a little dance?

Instrumental karaoke would truly separate the men from the boys, in that the only songs on the list are purely instrumental, and the aim is to win over the crowd without singing. It could bring interpretive dance to the masses, I tell you.

Thought this would be a voice-only track for people to strum/drum/tinkle/paper comb along to in public, while drunk.

       So the idea is wordless karaoke . . . hmmmm . . . [-]

Interesting. Sort of like free-form rap?

I can see the "I did it My Way" of this new performance art being "Tubular Bells" - performers must remember the exact timing and sequence of the entrance of each new instrument into the entire album, and mime the playing of that instrument.

'Tubular Bells" tournaments would become the new sport of the Dull Men's Club [link]

Oh. Bone for not pronouncing karaoke properly :)

I dunno about that - I can see the Ride Of The Valkyries becoming pretty popular. And the theme tune from Top Gun is undoubtedly the new I Will Survive.
