To find out what's in front of that huge SUV in front of me, or
even to find out what's around the corner, this gadget will
allow me to look at the feed from the closest traffic
surveillance camera. If you're close to the camera, a simple
Bl**t**th connection will suffice, otherwise the images
will
have to come through your in-car web
connection. Checking out the image of your own car on
this will be the new equivalent of checking out your
reflection in shop windows.

Have you ever looked at an aerial photograph and tried to pick out your house. It's not an easy and immediate task of the sort that you could do while driving safely. I imagine identifying cars would be more difficult, their being more anonymous. |

Even though you'd get better with practice I think you'd need some kind of electronic assistance showing you which was your vehicle. I can think of a few ways of doing this but none that are simple, cheap and efficient. |

About the bluetooth thing. Don't worry about it. You're among friends. It's OK to like bluetooth. Actually I think it's a rather nice piece of tech... [sound of a scuffle as st3f is dragged off and beaten up] |

Yeah, you'd be trying to reconcile a static viewpoint of moving traffic with your own moving viewpoint. You *couldn't* do it. |

There would be some value in allowing you to check upcoming junctions, and perhaps alternate routes, for traffic levels, though you'd still be better off if your copilot did it for you. |

(Checking your reflection in shop windows works as the reflection moves with you from window to window.) |

Too much gawking at the monitor and you'll find out what's in front of you the hard way. |

Well, maybe *you* couldn't, [Pe^H^HDrCurry] - anyway, the
point of this is not to be able to pick out your car, but to
see what's happening a couple of junctions down the
motorway. |
