One definition of an Amp is "The amount of current in that
will give a force of 2x10-7N/metre of wire length with 2
parallel wires that are 1m apart".
So, where is the Imperial version of that? Life is just too
easy for those electrical types of people.
That's a gap in the market if ever I
saw one. Simply
substitute ft-lb, 1 ft gap, BTU and so on into the definitions
and get Imps (Imperial amps), Voults, Columbias and so
on.
Much better.

I have always been uneasy about putting metric
electricity into English electrical appliances, and I
suspect it is responsible for many faults and failures
thereof. |

The reigning monarch usually provides the physical attributes used to define Imperial measurements. |

When approached for assistance in defining electrical power, said petition brought forth by representatives of the Royal Guild of Electrickers and Pastry Chefs who had brought jumper-cables, Queen Victoria was recorded as stating: |

" Right then, let's make it the amount of electricity required to cause a Monarch to say 'Have that stupid b*gger flogged' " . . . |

Unfortunately for the "Wotsthatthen" unit (abbr. Wot) the RGEPC reps discovered they had left an important piece of equipment in their other pants. |

As far as I'm concerned, based on the stupidity
quotient, electricity is already in imperial units since
it's all backwards to start with. |
