IGTBL Phone
A cell phone with an "I'm going to be late" button | |
Cell phone's appear to be used for three architypical conversations:
1) Where are you? - I'm over here.
2) Where do you want to meet? - Dunno, where do you want to meet?
3) I'm gonna be late.
Seems like lots of distracting in-car conversations could be avoided by having an "I'm Gonna
Be Late" button on the phone. Press a speed dial, press the "IGBL" button, and you are home free. Advanced phones might allow the numeric keypad to enter a number of minutes/hours/days/years you are planning on being delayed.

So, instead of being distracted by pressing one button, then talking through your hands free kit, you are distracted by entering strings of numbers on a keypad? Better still, phone before you leave. |

I guess having this voice-based rather than text-based would make it a new invention. Just pick "late" and dial a number, and the device waits for it to be answered and speaks your message. Like voice mail in reverse (ugh). |

It's certainly common with preset text messages though, as Rods says. |

Voicemail in reverse? Telemarketers would have a field day... |
