My 3 yr old daughter doesn't sit still while I try to make some pig-tails. It's not something I have mastered: even my best effort is re-done by the wife in moments.
So armed with the hair-drier and some short heat-shrink plastic tubes, I think I might stand a chance.
Of course, they would need
to be low temperature acting, and brightly coloured.

How do better hair binders solve the difficulty of braiding? |
Thanks, [po]. The tone of my voice didn't translate very well. I meant: I can barely grab a handful of hair and twist an elastic band around it, let alone braid it. |

I thought that they made some sort of head harness to restrain your toddler. |
That is what the pigtails are for. And why children of all genders should be left with uncut locks. |
(Speaking from experience) there's a lot to be said for shaved heads. |
But what are you trying to achieve here? Getting the hair plaited, or stopping your wife from doing it over? |
P.S. Heat-shrink tubing appears to be widely used for hair extensions, whatever those are. So it looks like you're on the right lines. |
Damn, its true! [DrCurry] either has seen it or thinks it to exist allready. |
There's always the Topsy-Tail. |
Tubing used for hair extensions resembles monofilament fishing line, only hollow. It's used as a tie, not a tube. |
If these become fashionable, we wouldn't have to hear "Looks like Dad did your hair again today. It looks... nice. Really.", anymore. |
Susan: actually, I think *everything* exists already; but in this case I saw a link. It wasn't interesting enough to post, though. |
