A pair of sturdy boots, with a thick sole. The sole
incorproates a layer of an efficient insulator.
Embedded on the outside of the sole are a number
of thermal sensors connected back to a processor.
The insulating layer protects the sensors from
spurious heat signals from the wearer's foot,
and
also acts as protection for the wearer.
When the detected temperature passes a preset
limit the wearer is alerted. The DeLuxe version has
a readout of the actual temperature.
Essential footwear for firefighters and
vulcanologists.

So, an insulated boot which is cunningly contrived to
tell you
that your feet would be hot if you weren't actually
wearing it? |
|
|
Could this, perhaps, be paired with an umbrella with
an inbuilt rain-activated shower, to show you how
wet you would get if you didn't have the umbrella? |
|
|
What, to prevent sudden sole meltdown? |
|

If things are getting that hot, the brain is a pretty good sensor already. Dampened by insulation, yes, so perhaps the quick response of the sensor is the novelty here. |

Snake sensing boots that raise an alarm before the strike would be most excellent as well. Since snakes are cold blooded, and can't be located by their heat output most of the time, the task may have to done with face/snake recognition software and a camera. |
