Modern security systems in public buildings and museums
rely on the vigilance of police departments or private
security services, which can be affected by a plethora of
outside factors such as weather. I propose that these
systems work in tandem with a back-up system that is
contained within
the building.
At the end of each day, a caretaker or official activates a
mechanism that converts the building into a terrifying
haunted house. Pedestals and displays containing valuable
objects are booby-trapped to transform into gruesome
zombies and monsters when touched, and half of the tiles
actuate spring-loaded ghouls when stepped on. These traps
utilize the Uncanny Valley and other deeply ingrained
phobias that effect the majority of the world's population.
The end result is a would-be villain who is converted into a
cowering wreck, unable to do anything but willingly turn
himself in to the authorities.
