Hat in the Hood

Hooded jackets are good protection in foul weather, but they have drawbacks. On blustery days they catch the wind to slip off your head, and since the hood doesn’t rotate with your head, your field of vision is limited so that you have to turn your torso to see sideways. This combination of hat, hood and jacket solves these practical problems and is appealing as well.

Its integral design means that the hood is adjustable to fit snuggly on your head, and the upper edges of the hood are reinforced to follow the movements of the bill. Just a hooded hat, a hood with visor or a hooded sweatshirt with separate cap will not keep out the cold wind and rain.

Hat in the Hood will and it comes in many models from beret hood to 37.85 liter hood to Robin Hood hood, and when the weather turns nice and you want air in your hair, the hat tags along, hanging on your back.

This designer took the "fowl"-weather jacket idea and ran just a bit amok with it. [jurist, Oct 04 2004, last modified Oct 05 2004]

       Guess no one's seen a hood-hat in Sweden.

       No, this is supposed to be a jacket/sweatshirt with a hood that wears like a hat. Have you seen it?

       Not to be confused with Katt in the Hood, the new rapping sensation

       The gunners who operated "The Guns of Navarone" gun had hoods, gloves, and googles all separate from the uniform/jacket. They were to keep out noise and flame. But you want a hat and hood and jacket all sewn together.

       // googles //

       There was internet access on the Greek islands during WW2 ? Well, who knew, eh ?

       The anti-flash gear portrayed was and is used by gunners in many situations, but large-calibre separate-loading BL guns (in naval gun turrets) are a particular risk as they use bagged propellant ("cordite") charges, meaning that flash fires are an ever-present hazard.

       There were in fact two guns in the movie. The crew are only in danger from flash when something goes wrong. Their hearing, however, is at great risk every time a gun fires, as is their eyesight; the muzzle flash, particularly at night, can cause temporary blindness.
