This would work fine, except in terms of success.

Keep busy! That is the ticket to mental health.

No wonder so many pets are catatonically depressed.

So what is needed is a smartphone-driven, 3-d printable mechanical dog food game that metes out reward for an increasingly interesting series of challenges - at first just levers to press in order.

This is kind of the gaming equivalent of that cat water bowl that constantly recycles the water to make it appear fresh.

What is needed is for the stupid human to realise that if they have a dog, what the dog needs is quality contact time with the human, not a piece of mechanism. [-]

It's called a toilet. Insert cat into bowl, close lid, flush.
