No computer access? Jammed in a dismantled aircraft fuselage in Grenada somewhere? Does a postman ride- by on horseback every once-in-a-while? Then have no fear!

What was once a past time exclusive to the digital age now expands to technologies and people from centuries past! That's right! If you are capable of regular post correspondence, you too can still indulge in all of the witty, pedantic, loving camaraderie of the Halfbakery by postal service!

Simply jot-down your idea and proposed category on whatever parchment, paper or parcel of animal hide you have handy, seal it in an envelope and entrust it (with proper postage, of course) to your local postal courier. Upon receipt, our crack staff of untrained transcribers will put your thoughts to work for YOU as a potentially revolutionary Halfbakery idea!

As penmanship is critical, direct translation may result in unnecessary gibberish as part of your text body and could result in a poorly received idea or sharp pedantic jabbing at the hands and pitchforks of the regulars. Reply correspondence can be arranged if you are kind enough to include return postage and we will gladly print a copy of your idea, replete with witty annotations and your bun- to- bone ratio after 30 days so you are fully up to date as to the reception of your marvelous creation!

So the next time you're without power or can't make it to the public library for 30 seconds of computer time because of some unforeseen hobopocalypse; remember that the HB will never be TOO far our of reach.

Another fine service bought to you by FortCo! A brighter future through a righteous bungling of the past!

The halfbakery by postal service. Hmmm, wonders if you were present for the great "Get Well FarmerJohn" debacle. Just wondering...

       I missed that, actually.

It was before both of your time. It took months and months to get one get well card from state to state. Then someone lost it, found it, and finally it made it across the pond to farmerjohn. By then he was quite well, and it made no sense. It started in Connecticut, went to the west coast, then back to east coast, then down south, then over the Atantic to Britain. Finally reaching it's destination in Sweden. I think.

A bit like that nativity baby Jesus that went globetrotting, eh'? That whole "Get Well FJ" debacle sounds so lovingly, classic Halfbakery too.

The sociology of all this is too good.

This could really save the Postal Service.

       Ha!
blissmiss, Dec 16 2012

I submit that RFC 1149 (IP over Avian Carriers) renders this idea superfluous (link).

You will receive my bun in a plain, brown envelope! [+]
