An ongoing little fun project.
I'll post the Halfbakery idea link, then a link to the product
that was later manufactured or used.
Others are obviously welcome to post stuff as well.
Just a little victory lap for some of the visionary Halfbakers
out there.

How about another one for those of us (like me) who thought
we'd thought of something original but hadn't, I've one of my
own (at least) for that list already. |
|
|
Just a little thumb-nose for some of the less than visionary
Halfbakers (of which I'm damn sure I'm one) out there who
thought of it decades after someone else. |
|
|
This one might get shut down as a call for a list. |
|
|
I'll put it before the judges before progressing any further. |
|
|
Isn't the halfbakery: category exempt from the call-for-
list rule? |

I had an idea for drones doing delivery/surveying/other
jobs
requiring travel across the city to ride existing city buses
to get
closer to their destinations/back home. Turns out Amazon
had
that idea before I did. I think they even patented it. I
never
expected to see a patent on riding a vehicle. |
|
|
Also, I thought of a shirt that's a whiteboard, so you can
write on
it whatever message you want that day, and it turns out
that
already exists too. I should have known that would
already exist.
I forget if it's any good though. |
|
|
I had an idea to do a nonrocket spacelaunch and/or
artillery
using an EPFCG, which would work like the explosively
confined
gun barrel idea that's on here, but the magnetic field
would
serve as the tapered tail that got squeezed. I did a
Google
search and it turns out somebody already had that idea
too! |
|
|
I haven't been flagged for this yet so I'm going to
start adding posts from time to time. Feel free to
add your ideas. I got the ball rolling with these
first
two. |
|
|
Whether these ideas were thought of
simultaniously
by two different parties or taken from this site is
hard to say, but here they are to review. |
|
|
I tried putting a couple of framing lines in so it's
not such a bunch of word soup. |
|
|
What counts as became a reality? Does it count if an
enthusiast has secretly been building every idea in his
garage? Or ..the Pentagon has? Or must it be on sale ? |

//Why werent bakeries breadmongers?//
Having just quickly looked up the etymology, it seems that 'monger' is associated with some form of prettying-up the product. So a fishmonger, for example, always keeps the fish wet & shiny so that it looks fresh. With bread, the adulteration is normally hidden on the inside (so using sawdust instead of flour for example). However, these days with copious sprinkling of seeds & the proliferation of interesting crust patterns, you probably could justifiably call them breadmongers. |
|
|
Prettying it up isn't actually a requirement to mong
something but current opinion does lean toward the idea
that if it looks nice it helps motivate buyers to, um. buy.
Which is why I think putting lipstick on a trout you
want to sell is a good idea. |
|
|
//What is it that they do to the raw scare to make it a mongered scare?//
You only have to read any tabloid newspaper, where trivia is routinely elevated into an end-of-the-world, the-apocalypse-is-upon-us, free-tin-foil-hat-inside* scenario.
*Actually, I have quite a nice collection of free, tin-foil hats. i keep thinking it would be nice to sell them on ebay but i know that, if I do, I'll probably have my head invaded by brain-sucking aliens thirty seconds after I ship them out the door. Either that or I'll be hit by debris from a falling space station just as soon as I venture outside to pop them into the post box. |
