Having taking a lengthy sabatical from Half Baking, I have forgotten many of the cultural norms of this wholey remarkable place.
I see HTML tags, proper grammar and reverant mentioning of custard... but why?
This place feels like a forgotten dream... or maybe it was a nightmare. I can't quite
remember. But as I navigate through this now-strange setting, I know I need a guide... Many guides. Maybe a throng of crusading bakers who can not-so-gently prod me back into line with the ascorbic wit I seem to remember might once have been expected here... maybe even enjoyed.
Full emersion Half Bakery.

Happy to help. You remember the spelling pedantry?
Well... |
This sounds like a call for abuse, random violent beatings, and a trebuchet ... |

You say that like it's a bad thing. |

[Mike], a lot has happened while you've been away.
People have had extended arguments over gun
control; there's been a bunch of orrery-related posts;
[8th] has made a number of comments disparaging
cats; there have been endless pun-based ideas;
and... actually, don't worry. Just pick up where you
left off and you'll fit right in. |
You mean the "Health: amnesia: diagnosis" category? |
Calm down, [IT]. Here, have a nice cup of tea. The Archers will be
on in a bit. Try not to dribble, eh ? |
<tucks tartan blanket over [IT]'s knees> |

<gloats over superior Borg mental acuity> |

[MB] I missed an resurfacing of the orrery fixation? There aught to be some form of push notification for such things. I also see [21Quest] is no longer with us. |
Has [UB] come and gone while I was away? |
And [8th] making disparaging comments about cats is strangley comforting. It's like a fixed point in which one can always rely on to be true. I wonder when his trebuchet ammunition will arrive. |
//People have had extended arguments over gun control.// |
But we've reached a consensus that seems to work for
everybody: Those who are against gun control are worse
than Hitler and those who are for gun control are also
worse than Hitler. |
So we've pretty much solved that controversy. |

Ah, the Grendel of the HB.... |

We're anticipating its imminent arrival |

Oh, sorry... as you were. |

You've definatley found the chink in my armour, [8thof7]... I've had so much pussy thrown at me these past 2 years that I honestly don't think I can take anymore. |

It's good to be back [Remulac M.D.]. I'm honestly releived to see so much of the regular crowd out and about. I'd been lurking for a few days now and hadn't seen much activity out there. This place was giving me a ghost-town vibe. |

That was just someone re-tuning the theremin. |

//ascorbic wit// Ah yes, wit wit' vitamins!
Mind you, it's just about as tangy and sharp as acerbic wit, so, carry on. |
Hope this gentle prodding was helpful. I'm not usually known as gentle. <lightly stretches outside comfort zone> |
//the regular crowd// here???!!!! |
//...the ascorbic wit I seem to remember...// - excellent! - a serendipitous typo? |

More likely, a badly-educated spell checker

Ah, so it's an auto-erotic asphyxia kind of thing... |

It would have to be

Gearboxes are for sports cars and tractor-trailers. |

Slush boxes are for traffic jams. |
