Mmph here goes. . . I am a delivery driver for a party rental company (tables, chairs, table settings and such), and because of this I spend lots of time walking to and from my delivery van. When its raining, I can't use an umbrella because I need my hands free, and a hood is too hot lugging around heavy things. So on days when its really rainy my hair is wet all day. This is both annoying, unsightly, and makes me cold. I think some sort of gel, or hair spray (both even) that has the properties of Scotch Guard would help me, and others who find this a problem, rather useful. Seeing as washing it out would be hard, it would have to come with a separate bottle or can of Hair Scotch Un-Guarder.

       None for me, thanks.

       (link) Alternative solution. Or not.

That link. . .it blows my mind. I can't even begin to fathom who would buy a big foam hotdog hat. for novelty. other than the jughead hat of course. . .
notme, Nov 17 2002

Now if you had long hair and the spray is real gooey, you could form it into an umbrella before it hardens.
FarmerJohn, Nov 17 2002

The dwarf hat guy on half's link looks like my idea of ebinezer scrooge. :) Hey, the umbrella hat is only $4.98, and in your line of work (party rental co.) it would be fitting. I thought the hamburger hat was quite enticing, of course that may be because I missed lunch today.

Don't worry [notme], Scotch Guard washes out pretty easily.

ps - my girlfriend owns the flower pot hat in [half]'s link.
snarfyguy, Nov 17 2002

A hood may be too hot, but there are plenty of rain hats with air holes for ventilation. When I can't be bothered with an umbrella, I just wear a baseball cap. Entirely hands-free, and I don't get any gook all over my head.
DrCurry, Nov 17 2002

what is needed is a waterproof hat with guttering all round the edge leading to a down pipe ending somewhere around the ankle.

       Re half's link:
Look mommy, that duck just shat a man's head!
barnzenen, Nov 18 2002

On a more serious note, well, more serious then my last note, wouldn't scotch gaurd make the rain run into your eyes?
barnzenen, Nov 18 2002

As for rain running into my eyes, I guess it could. But it would depend on the way my hair is combed (or not combed as the case may be). And im not a big fan of wearing hats. although I think i could pull off hat shaped like a shark pretty well. . .
notme, Nov 18 2002

Form a hairstyle that naturally gutters the water away from your eyes. Maybe the big bang trend of the 80's. Lord knows they used scotchguard to hold it.

Hell, what about taping your hair up? I say, screw hairspray...TAPE!
igirl, Mar 08 2003

Its to keep the rain off, not keep the hair up. And have you ever HAD tape stuck in your hair? Its a mess. Oh the pain. . .the PAIN.
notme, Mar 08 2003

I HAVE had tape in my hair, but i cut it off :-P. The tape would work if you wanted a kind of permanent hairdo. To keep the we off your head, don't old ladies have those little plastic rain bonnets for that??
igirl, Mar 08 2003

igirl - you're not a girl are you?
po, Mar 08 2003

Given that she's only wearing Saran wrap and sticky tape, it should be pretty easy to check.
DrCurry, Mar 08 2003

       1st thing: po, i am a girl 2nd thing: DrCurry, if you're so fixated on my saran wrap bikini, why don't you model it for us? oh wait...AAAGH! NO! disturbing imagery....{{{shudder}}}
