qwerty keyboards are outdated. sure,
they're pretty simple to understand, but
boring. plus, sitting typing on your
keyboard is not visually appealing. i
suggest instead an electric guitar.
each string works as a different key, with
the frets as modifiers. therefore, when you
want to
hit a commonly used letter (say
"e") you strum one of the strings. to get a
less common letter you have to hold a
distant fret while strumming.
each string will have a gate on it so that
only strums of a certain level will register,
so on an average strum only one letter will
be imputted.
With this system, all data entry personnel
will become slightly more fit as well,
because sitting in an office chair with
armrests is difficult with a guitar, and
most people are likely to start bouncing
around when you hand them a guitar.
This system also allows for the creation
of a number of "Rockstar" themed
peripherals and accessories.

great - also other instruments like harmonicas and bagpipes. |

It could also be used to implement security groups; to get 'root' access you'd need to be able to play 'flight of the bumblebee' on a hurdy-gurdy (a MIDI-capable hurdy-gurdy obviously - note to self, invent MIDI-capable hurdy-gurdy) |

Someone has just invented a USB guitar (went to a demo a couple of weeks ago). You could use that. |

[DrCurry] the usb guitar you linked sounds
good, but this would be less of a stand
alone guitar. It probably wouldn't use an
audio pickup for determining what key you
want. the iGuitar is pretty cool though |

[Brau] i thought that maybe the thumb
could operate a shift key at the back of the
neck. i'm not quite sure what you mean by
the word length limit. |

//note to self, invent MIDI-capable hurdy-gurdy// - Please don't lose that note [monojohnny], the world *needs* one of them. |
