Why only have ivy on the outside of your house? | |
I like a lot of foliage around my house, particularly the bedroom. Problem is that my room's pretty small so I don't have much surface space to put plants on, and I can't be bothered to faff around with hanging baskets and the like.
I'm proposing a type of wallpaper with a deeply fibrous texture,
containing various nutrients conducive to plant growth.
One first sprays the wall with water, then simply throws handfuls of seeds at it. That's all that's required - you then simply let Mother Nature do her work, and in a few months you feel like you're living in a forest.
I'm not sure what types of species would do well in these conditions - probably not too many, but there must be some that thrive in dark conditions. It might be wise to choose evergreen rather than deciduous species to avoid having to emerge from beneath piles of leaves during the winter months.
Redecorating would be easy, if a little slow. Simply introduce a competitive species and let it happen.

The feature that would make this viable would be the ability to easily remove it if needed. I'd love this in my room, but something tells me my landlord wouldn't. So when I move out, i just strip the foliage straight off my wall and stick it in a suitcase for the next place. |

cut up lots of pairs of tights (pantyhose) and pin to the wall with mustardseed and cress between the layers. spritz with water. it grows. |

When I was a wee lad, I had a science kit where I could grow a bean plant in a petri dish. The kit included some sort of clear, thick syrup from which the seed got its nutrients. All I had to do was watch it grow. |

I haven't seen those kits for 30 years now, so I assume they're hazardous in some manner. Reading this idea brought on the flashback. |

A friend of mine who loves plants had run string lines over two walls and an entire ceiling in one room, and allowed a hanging Wandering Jew vine to take over. He had to feed it through the strings as it grew, but that allowed him to direct its growth to where he wanted it. The entirety of one wall and the ceiling was covered, and about half of another wall, and it was still growing when I last saw it. |
