As any golfer knows, a sudden noise that breaks the silence can be distracting. Tiger Woods is often distracted by photographers taking pictures during his backswing, and he often lets them know about it! So, what can he do about it? Perhaps he could use a golf bag sound soother. It's a device that would
be attached to his golf bag that his caddy could turn on when Tiger sets up for his shot. It would make a pleasant noise - like ocean waves - that would drown out any camera clicks. After a while, he'd get used to it, just like basketball players can easily shoot free throws with a noisy crowd. One potential problem is that the TV microphones would pick up the sound.

Actually, I wonder if you could market noise-makers to would-be pro golfers, so they could simulate the noise of crowds and cameras whilst practising? (So they could train themselves to ignore distractions the way the police train police horses.) |

I think a few pro golfers have used earplugs. Some golfers would probably find them impractical since caddies whisper things to the golfers quite often. |

He is, however, trying to get a one-and-a-half-inch ball directly into a two inch hole, two hundred yards away, with nothing but a three-foot club, when he can't even see the hole due to a hill in his way. Being an accomplished player of neither sport, I'd say that basketball looks an easier proposition. |

For a non-player you play some pretty tough courses! In North America all regulation golf courses must have holes that are four and a quarter inches in diameter, and golfers must use a golf ball with a diameter of no less than 1.68 inches. |
