Instead of scrambling around in the dark during a power cut trying to find a source of light why not make matchboxes and candles glow in the dark so that they will be easy to locate? It seems so simple it has probably been done before....

Not a shadow of a doubt about that. |

The only problem I see with this is that I usually keep both these things in drawers, where they're not likely to get a lot of light. |

I have a glow-in-the-dark flashlight, which I guess you could use to find the glow-in-the-dark matches that you left in the drawer. |

I've spent ages looking for my perfect match. (+) |

So my candles and matches are in some dark drawer. light goes off and they glow? I liked it anyway (+) |

I'm afeared this wouldn't be as reliable as we're all hoping. Glo-in-the-dark paraphenalia requires "juicing up" under a strong light source. This makes it less than useful when put in a drawer as [nomad] said or tucked in a cabinet where they usually are. |

Include a radioactivity source, like in old watch dials. |
