This applies particularly to electronic health records, but those evolved from paperwork, so just as useful to start with paper forms.

An idea I could get behind if someone has the political will to do it: modify the patient assessment portion of individual health records for males so that they answer the same questions about live births as do females (gravida#/para#). Therefore, Johnny comes into the ER and gets asked "How many pregnancies have you conceived?" and "How many were live-born?", term, premature, etc., and "How many are alive today?", and ...

Granted, the terms are awkward, but isn't awkward the language of consensus?

Just one example (they're all alike). There are some evolving forms that ask for relationship between patients and children. That's not in this "Geek Code". [reensure, Jul 09 2022]

I'm assuming this is being facetious yea?

And aren't they already doing this?

Species neutral? The division between doctors and vets seems a little artificial. A lot of the medicine and treatments are the same, its only legal regulation that enforces species distinctions between humans and non-humans.

I agree Poc to some extent, but not to be virtue signaling or anything, but isn't it pretty kingdomist to act like plants are somehow a lower order of life than animals by putting them in their own category?

Simply saying "Are you moss?" on the questionnaire might serve to make up for some of the historical misdeeds of us in the animal kingdom.

Meat is murder but salad is just good eating? Please.

//The division between doctors and vets seems a little artificial.//

and that's why I'm hoping to entice a vet to open a clinic here. That way if the crap does hit the fan I won't have to be the guy to perform amputations and extract teeth and such.

       Selfish I know.

Given a choice of a vet or a horticulturalist to pull my teeth i know which I would choose

I guess I'll start calling you Woody

It's been predicted over and over for generations. Every ten years there's a new crisis that's going to be TEOTWAWKI. I decided long ago that I'm better off dealing with the world as I know it. If everything goes to hell well I guess I'll be one of the zombies. But IMO the actuarial odds are enough in my favor to make it not worth the resources to prepare.

What if you'd figured out a way to make the preparation accumulate wealth in case it doesn't hit the fan?

Hope for the best, prepare for the worst. This rule has served me well.

//Given a choice of a vet or a horticulturalist to pull my teeth i know which I would choose//

I don't know who said it but, I love the quote; "It is better to be a warrior in a garden, than to be a gardener in a war."

       //doctors and vets//
Doctors: know a little about all of 1 species, or a lot about 1 PART of 1 species.
Vets: know a lot about a reasonable variety of species (I know, there are specialities with veterinarianism, but still...).
On the face of it, having a vet around is probably more useful.

OTOH, a gardener can only die once, but the soldier will have PTSD for the rest of their life.

That was my thinking. We might not have a hand-specialist neurosurgeon when we need one, but we can keep your hand from turning gangrene and taking your life before your time. That can be built upon... and I collect extremely strange books like, The History Of Pediatrics, which I have never opened but will be fascinating reading for somebody... someday.

//OTOH, a gardener can only die once, but the soldier will have PTSD for the rest of their life.//

True... but very little can be done about that now. Whatever mental state I have acquired from the fight is no longer reversible.
I will create my garden... and then I will defend it if need be.
I will defend it well.
Folks should think twice before targeting this place. I'm pretty inventive and have been thinking through inside and outside attack scenarios, just for shits-n-giggles, for many years now.
Others will help out because of mutual vested interests, we all refused to register our weapons here, and continue to do so.
We know better than to trust our government in Canada. We remember the shit they've done.

I will teach anyone willing how to be warrior-gardeners without the associated post traumatic stress syndrome.

The PTSD associated with defending is totally different from the PTSD associated with offence.
Bastards got some learning to be done.

Gardening feels like war a lot of the time, which is why I do so little of it.

I have to admit that I have never asked any of my male patients about how many miscarriages etc their sexual partners have had, and it could actually be a good idea to do so.

Why stop at species neutral between the doc and the vet. What about the computer technician?

The gardener quote is a paraphrase on a Chinese saying which originally read: Bettel be dead wallial in galden than arive in Walsaw Ghetto.

It's best to be a cockroach. The spoils of war and all...
RayfordSteele, Jul 13 2022

It might be a good idea to do so [nineteenthly].
We are taught as men to suppress emotion and so sadness leaks out as anger.

       ...m'yes, quite.

//The spoils of war and all...//

I wouldn't define picking up the pieces <later edit> that assholes left as their legacy, <le>,as spoils of war, but hey, whatever anybody wants to call it.
Shit's coming yo.
