Transgenic pigs and chickens can be raised, which have green fluorescent proteins (GFP) in every cell of their body. Slow roasting green eggs and ham can be cooked at 160 F. This is about 10 degrees below the denaturation point of GFP. These items can be special ordered for Dr. Seuss Lovers.

Well done, [leinypool]; I was thinking of posting something like this, but I didn't know enough of the science to bluff it out. [+]

+ Not that I'd really want to eat them, but it's a cool idea.

I wonder about the effect of eating such things. Maybe go on a Geisel diet six weeks before Halloween?
nuclear hobo, Aug 12 2007

I hate to quibble, but your ham and eggs would be green only under UV light. Green fluorescent protein is not actually green fluorescent protein; it is green- fluorescent protein. Yet another example of the wanton misuse of hyphens causing untold misery.

[MaxwellBuchanan] Es verdad, mi amigo. But could you (would you) eat them with a blacklight on?
leinypoo13, Aug 13 2007

I would eat them with a black light on.
I would eat them with a track light on.
I would eat them in a chair.
I would eat them at the fair.
They are so good, so good, you see!

Ew. Do they come with this glowing green croissant?
Galbinus_Caeli, Aug 13 2007

I would not eat them with a bun
I would not eat them just for fun
Now that Doctor Seuss is dead
I thought I heard someone said
He ate the green eggs and ham
That was me, xan-I-am.

       (I still bunned it)

       One fish, two fish,
Red fish, blue fish.
Here's a new fish,
Green fish too. Fish.

(Actually a bun)

As Someone who know a little bit about this sort of stuff would be mere child's play. (see tobacco plant below)

Glow worm genes are the way to go. Done on tobacco plant, it worked nicely. However I don't know how long the protein will work once the chicken is dead.

Definitely doing this one once my evil lab is up [+]
