Gasoline powered guitar
probably the only prop I never saw on MTV back in the old days when they actually had music videos | |
What else can be said? hmmmm---Ted Nugent? (motor city mad man) Ozzy is pretty big on props, I could picture his guitarist with one. It would be great to strum at your local Earth Day celebration!!!

What, in a guitar, needs to be powered? Amplifiers need power, but if the gasoline is used for this you just have a mobile generator, as baked at thousands of outdoor gigs. |

I think you need to read this a bit better it is NOT seen
on mtv and its a PROP wich means its not real, I'm
guessing this is a guitar with an engine on it, no doubt
metalica fans and bogans would love this, and bogan
metalica fans would cream themselves. |

st3f: please read the summary again |

So I guess, Ratita, the only thing you never saw is baked since it is the obvious thing left once you eliminate all the things you did see... |

If you had a tiny model airplane engine in a guitar, you could adjust the amount of fuel by pressing against fuel feedlines where the frets are & hence alter the tone. Maybe a REAl 'flying V' at last! |

"...probably the only prop I *NEVER* saw on MTV..."
Emphasis mine. |

Ratita: As correctly pointed out by Gulherme, phoenix and yourself, I completely misread the summary line. (MFD removed). I'm apologise for any trouble caused. Sorry. |

Hey. I am a guitar player myself and I think this is a great idea. If it ever comes out, I will use one in my band sometimes. Most of the time, Im sticking to my wonderful electric. |

Back to angel's question - what part of a guitar needs powered? |
don't you think that a gasoline powered guitar would make a lot of noise? |
I've seen an electric guitar with a built in gas powered chain saw on The Tom Green show, which aired on MTV. It was fully functional as well. |

If your guitar were to catch fire and burn the audience would probably think it was part of the act, and applaud. |
To do this right one would need to be able to slow down the piston fire speed so that the gas engine would keep time for you. |
Why slow it down ? speed the RPM's up well into the audio range and use it for counterpoint melodies. |
Reversing is the usual problem, not to mention double declutching on earlier models. Can't be doing with those flapple-paddle things myself. |
