Games Theory

I was thinking to my self one day, looking at the many games ive bought , downloaded and borrowed .And I started wondering why thay were all so short lived ,why thay were all packaged with false advertising and why i could only Do Make or Mess with a couple of options before i started repeating them... What im proposeing for a game is one where you could touch grab throw and MAKE! anything you wanted, a game where the only restriction realy is your imagination. a game where you could make your own wepons , tools , vehicles and player.

I know what you are probably thinkig right now , your thinking "y not just make a giant mech and kill evrything in sight." And if you did that, the game would just be boring again. But a better game should keep a touch of realizim mixed in with that fantasy base, and in reality it takes effort , equipment , time and work to get anything doable, done! Take this in mind ,and then try to build a mech... seems harder now, dosent it. Now , picture a whole load of other people, trying to do the same thing!

INVENTING: In my game i see players grouping, under there own free will, to form towns and strongholds. But to form the idias for wepons tools and objects, there has to be a special in game tool that will allow you to quickly and accurately put objects together, like a blueprint in 3D whitch can be shared and used as a guide when actually making it in game. so before you build that chair, battle axe or House, make a blueprint first, and see if it'll work like a charm or fall apart in your hands.

TOOL USE: Learning the use of tools shuld be the same in reality as making them. If tools were pre programed by the makers there would be all sorts of problems, such as ,suicide nives that are programed to kill you, and tools that look good up close but are programed to do nothing. Learning how to use tools and objects is compleatly user controlled and prsonalized. This will include hands and other limbs when unarmed.

(what i ment by this waz simply atention to detail.. if u want to pull a branch off a tree... click on the tree branch with both hands selectedand when your player grabs on.. pull down.. when and where the maximum presure is applied.. the branch wil snap... leaving u with sompthing to smack people with.. this game is ment to be the slow advance ov civilisation.. starting with animals strang and wired ov all kinds.. hill streems and mountains and untuched nature... and then the game iz launched.. and playerz start making toolz 2 surive.. hunt and eat.. thay get along with some... and sometimes thay dont.. soon there will be enuff toolz 2 build a house from wood and someone.. possably a friend.. will else will build a house next to that one.. maby itll be better.. maby it wont.. and maby itll turn into a litle town of people.. and then someone will figure out how to get the stone from the mountains and build a house.. and in a couple of monthes ull have castles.. and this will continue untill the earth thay are on is ruind.. or every one is dead..)

does this game sound like an interesting concept? does it seem to hard to make? or would you rather make something diferent? Just remember!!! The best games are made to suit the buyer, with lots of options , not the seller, and how fast it can be made... ( ScruFfiy )

y not just make a giant mech and kill evrything in sight?

it is advisable to put your email address on your account page (rather than tagged onto the end of your idea). you can locate it by clicking on XKAL, your user name on this page.

       Auuuugh!

hay if you dont want my e-mail there thats fine ... but what do you think about the game?
XKAL, Nov 09 2002

Surely this is what games programmers try to do anyway? Learn to program and you've got it made.
kaz, Nov 09 2002

So the game contains an element of collaboration with others together to build / defend / whatever the ultimate war machine, using the different talents of said people, and then battle them, right? Kinda sounds like Battlezone.
RayfordSteele, Nov 09 2002

ok maybe you dont understand... each player has there own free will, and if thay want to join a town, all thay have to do is go to that place. and like i said before any big or complicated things would be a lot tougher to make.. so i dont think there would be any Ulimate War Machines!!

Calum... your'e not wrong, (a) is not a problem tho, my imagination is fine, but (b) iz why i haven't made the game yet :P

Blaise... that group of pefect sentences you just wrote are exactly how i see the game, the only diference being the spelling of my name KPAL - XKAL

altho i dont mind being a pal :D

That is true, but most muds are either boring or confuzing. Maby im no looking hard enough, but i dont know any good muds.

and what does spelling have to do with a good idea?
XKAL, Nov 10 2002

// most muds are either boring or confuzing. // I think this nicely illustrates that the problem here is lack of imagination. Most muds are great, you just need an imagination to use them.

And is essential for computer programming.

       #include dictionary.lib

my mistake was the muds... critisizing and instuling, when i didn ot no what thay were.

and so it finali shows itz ugli head, spelling... english... on a basic scale yes, but to no it perfectli... No, that is not somthing we need. and especiali not me, for i have a theory. you are always lerning and getting better, as long as you chose 2 accept it... basicli this means that you dont have to be in a classroom or attending uni to learn. all u need iz 2 live, 2 do wat u want, and know it... i think, and that iz what i do
XKAL, Nov 15 2002

As long as you are happy with never being able to share your thinking, in any significant or detailed way, with anyone else.

XKAL, Aug 09 2003

My apologies XKAL, I will construct prose in a proper fashion from now on.
gnomethang, Aug 09 2003

well this game sounds pretty amazing, shame it probably isnt going to go anywhere....but dont let that stop the hope!! this game WILL be made!
bratch, Aug 09 2003

I'd say you're off to a good start. Don't let naysayers bring you down. Just take what's helpful and leave the rest. Keep going!
lawpoop, Aug 09 2003

       g. thanks.. i shuldent have such a bad score tho :S
XKAL, Aug 10 2003

I think it might be a little boring, especially near the start. Its not as if the lump of wood has a secondary fire mode. And depending on the level of realism, building a gun might take weeks of my time. I think most people would just steal things instead.
RobertKidney, Aug 10 2003

as thay shuld.. if thay could get it off the person...and besides... witch is more fun... simply killing somone outright with a gun... or running around beating somone shitless with some primitive nunchucks (witch you made yourself) for steeling your grub stew :D

I've often thought of an idea like this, only it is and was out of my reach, even if it was real, it would be too expensive.
krigre55, Dec 19 2007

It's called "modding". Or at least that's what I call it. When 2 people good at it edit a game, the possibilities are endless.

By the way, the "giant mech" idea doesn't work. Your opponent wil just make a better weapon. Trust me, I have tried.
Shadow Phoenix, Dec 19 2007

It sounds kind of like Garry's Mod where you can build anything and even design your own game mechanics if you feel so inclined.
