Coat some clothespins in copper and others in zinc. Hang up your wet socks with the copper type, and clip the zinc type to the toe. Wire them all up to the electric motor that spins iron_horse's clothes-around.

And my "wet socks" are wet with what? A potassium chloride solution? Maybe Sodium Chloride? If these are socks that have just been washed I doubt there will be much of an electrolytic solution contained in them. Maybe some nasty sweaty socks.........but even still we are missing some major components of a galvanic cell.[-]

Even if it did work, it would leave nasty stains

I'll go for the copper clothes pegs, but only coz they'll weather and age and look quite cool on my clothes line.

The lightning'll dry my clothes quicker right?
kaz, Aug 26 2009

Yes, in a sense. Definitely quick, and the carbonised remnants will undoubtedly have quite a low moisture content.

       "carbonised remains"

Black is always stylish.

you will need custard-soaked clothings for electrolyte

Howdy, ['miss]! I might've been born in a barn, but I don't live there now
