No more struggling to make the upper bunk bed. No more climbing into bed up a steep ladder. No more negotiating if big brother or little brother sleeps on top. With galloping bunk beds they can change places every night, or sleep beside each other.
The beds with two post supports on each end build
a spring-loaded "pantograph", making it a cinch to pull down one bed to change the sheets or (un)load Junior. Lock the spring to keep both beds on the floor, or free it to swing the top bed back up. By sliding the supports while in the down position, the former lower bed can then be raised, and the bunk beds will stand in a new place in the bedroom.
The deluxe version has a motor and enables also vertical shift of the supports while the beds are above each other for further sideways steps. This allows the kids bunk beds to gallop through the night, easy as a walk in the park.

This shows both pantographs and a simple four bar linkage.

Well, Im sure glad you put a drawing in there! (By the way, this is the simplest form of what's called a "four-bar linkage." Its not a "pantograph"--which also can be a four-bar, but not this one.) |
I employed a looser, non-engineer definition than a writing pantograph: "A similarly jointed framework, such as a power-collecting trolley on an electric locomotive or an extensible telephone arm". |
I always thought a pantograph was
something which told you when it was
time to change your pants. |
Motorize it, give it AI, and it can run away from you. |
Too much galloping and someone's going to have to muck out the stable in the morning. |
Until the kids go crazy in the night and crash through the bedroom window. + |

Yeah, I can see Junior trying to squish his little brother... |
Junior was always into his modding, but he met an untimely end when his overclocked bunk bed flung him out the window... |
dunno why this looks like a household circus-like appliance... (+) ! |
