I am sick and tired of mobile phones breaking down every couple of weeks. They are fine for a bit, and then the first time you drop it, or step on it or dunk it in the spa, the thing packs up and dumps its memory, leaving you to argue with telecom or whoever about a replacement. I am extremely happy with my Casio G-Shock watch. I've had it for 5 years. I surf, snowboard hang in the spa eat, sleep and work with it on my wrist. I've bashed it. HARD. i've run over it on a motorbike and dropped it out of a moving car. The light still lights. It still keeps impecable time. The original batterie is still working. even the strap still works as good as the day I bought it, duty free, for $200. My plan/idea is;- Casio!! are you listening? Please make some G-Shock phones. I don't wanna take pictures, I don't wanna use the 'net. I wanna make calls, and sometimes txt. i wanna do it with a phone that is made of something tougher than the delicate rubbish that they're made of at the moment. Is that too much to ask? No its not. please get on the case. Thankyou.

There are durable phones out there. I guess they aren't that popular. The Nokia 6250 came out in 2000, so I presume that there are successors to it... [Jinbish, Sep 23 2002, last modified Oct 04 2004]

More likely to break a paving slab than the phone. [sild, Sep 23 2002, last modified Oct 04 2004]

My work Nokia 6510e just will not break, no matter how many times I drop it. Which is a pity, since I only get a new one when the old one stops working.

Well no...I'm just reminiscing aloud really. However, there are waterproof mobiles out there, as Jinbish has already noted.

Perhaps it's time you thought about a Mobira: link.

The batterie. Invented by Thierry Batterrie of Nice.

If mobiles are made indestructable then why would sombody buy a new one? My mobile is held together by electrical tape rubber bands and bustickets, I've noticed that most nokias screens screw up after a year or so I'm beggining to think that this is built into the phone to make people upgrade to the next model.
