My family and I are about to move house. We've been waiting since February for our chain of properties and peoples to get their acts together, and to stop lying to one another.
Finally, a week or two back, everything clicked and we were on. The natural date that seemed to suit everyone's requirements
fell on the sixth of this month. This was agreed by all concerned. A subsequent 'hiccup' put this date out of the question, and the thirteenth was duly suggested, which happens to be a Friday. This was not acceptable to someone (don't know who) somewhere in the chain, and so the date was pushed to the 20th, which was acceptable to all (Quite why the date has to be a friday has not been satisfactorily explained to me, but there we go). I wonder how much of a discount on their purchase would encourage these people to abandon their superstitious principles?
Anyway, I was telling all this to a pal, and he suggested there should be a website selling cheap flights and theatre tickets for those people who feel bold enough to venture out on unlucky dates. Brilliant! Well, I think so.
Fill the otherwise vacant places in all kinds of things on days that are irrationally avoided by some people. Half price bungy jumps - Friday only!

And how about discounted rates for rooms on the 13th (14th) floor of hotels? Or discounts for staying in B&Bs that are "haunted?" Maybe there could be a national "Rational Person" card that would ensure discounts everywhere, for those of us who grew out of childhood delusions. [+] |

I'd buy them. But that doesn't make me well-adjusted. Thirteen has been my number since I was born (on a 13th), and given names that total 13 letters . . .. |

I rather like this idea. The notion of getting
cheaper anything appeals to me. (By the way this
is a Friday. So I should get a discounted
membership or something for this place...right?) |
