Fountain elevator

Like a space fountain [link] but applied to the purpose of a terrestrial elevator, likely inside a building.

A previously known concept is for a fountain tower to have an elevator that is lifted by direct interaction with the particle stream, the same way the tower itself is supported. [link, anno]

Another previously known concept is for the elevator itself to be the fountain's top station. This would then be a fountain elevator inside a non-fountain tower. [link, anno]

Alternatively, that same concept presumably could be implemented using a water fountain instead of a ferromagnetic particle fountain, for visual effect (though in this embodiment it wouldn't be suitable to support the building, and would be much less efficient).

Space fountain https://en.wikipedi...wiki/Space_fountain
Mentioned in idea [notexactly, Oct 24 2016]

Adjustable Height Platform Prior art, which didn't mention the possibility of using it to transport people or cargo up and down, but only the possibility of using it to provide a platform at an adjustable height [notexactly, Oct 24 2016]

Turns out the Wikipedia article mentions the exact concept that was the first one I described in my idea, as quoted below, so I have adjusted the idea.

// The elevators that would take payloads up the space fountain could conceivably ride up tracks on the tower structure using electrical power supplied by the tower, treating the space fountain solely as a mechanical support. A more attractive option would be to design the tower structure so the elevator cars can interact directly with the projectile streams themselves, and not couple to the tower structure at all. In this manner the momentum needed to raise the elevator car up against the Earth's gravity would come directly from the projectile stream. //

Fountain to me implies water. My other acct did something like this once - cough!

       I can't easily find it.

Turns out when I adjusted the idea to not be the same as the first prior art I already cited, I inadvertently made it the same as the second prior art I already cited, so I have again adjusted the idea.
